 FAQs

  • At Speechology, LLC, we know that what you want more than anything right now is to help your child communicate so that your child feels heard and understood. You want your child to be able to answer questions about how their day was and you want others to be able to understand them when they are away from you. For that to happen though, you need a professional that not only hears and understands your concerns as a parent but also understands the unique communication needs of your child. You need someone who is not going to judge you or your child but will actually work with you to address the communication struggles your child is having and help you come up with a plan. The problem is parenting means juggling 10,000 things at once and it’s hard to think about adding something else into your day. Perhaps you have tried waiting to see if your child would catch up, but you are still worried that they may be falling more and more behind. Or maybe you have tried to get help for your child before, only to be put on a waitlist or to have your concerns completely ignored or not fully explained. This has most likely left you feeling lost and fearful of what the future may hold for your child. It causes you to worry that your child will not be able to express their wants and needs when they are away from you because even though you know and understand your child, others may not. You know you need a speech language pathologist that treats you as part of the team, who will listen to the communication difficulties your child is facing and work alongside you to find strategies that fit into your busy family life.

At Speechology, LLC, we believe every single member of your family deserves to be heard and understood. You deserve to have your concerns addressed and fully explained and your child deserves the best chance to find their voice. That’s why we work endlessly with you to help you feel empowered to meet your child where they’re at and to help them reach their full potential. We understand how overwhelming it is to raise children and to constantly worry whether or not you are doing the best you can to help them develop and thrive. Our aim is to put the power and information back in your hands with the same strategies and techniques speech therapists use to get kids talking. Our mission is to build your confidence and capacity to help your child become an effective communicator by slightly tweaking the stuff you are already doing at home. Basically, we listen to the needs of you and your child and help you to help them. If you are ready to take the next step into empowerment, we are here to take that step with you. Here’s how it works: First, you book your free discovery call. Next, you would schedule your first session—This is when we would determine where breakdowns occur and where to start to address these communication breakdowns. Then, we will make a treatment plan to target these communication breakdowns. Lastly, we will teach you how to be your child’s best “therapist” with techniques and strategies to use at home over a series of training, coaching, and/or direct therapy sessions.

So contact us today, so you can stop worrying about your child’s future and start living confidently knowing that you have what it takes to help your child. You CAN do this, we can help.

  • We intentionally only offer our individual sessions as a bundled package to ensure you receive all essential elements to create real and lasting change. It’s a combination backed by research: powerful one-on-one sessions, carryover to the home, and effective communication and collaboration.

By packaging services, we make sure things don’t get missed, achieve higher levels of commitment, and have the flexibility to customize your program.

  • Here at Speechology, LLC, we are all about the family. We strive to impart the 4 basic tenets of family-centered care:

Dignity & Respect: We take into consideration knowledge, values, beliefs and cultural backgrounds when planning and delivering therapy.

Information Sharing: We communicate complete and unbiased information in order to assist you with decision-making.

Participation: Parent/caregiver participation is not only encourage but required with our unique therapy approach. We want your child to make the most gains in the quickest way possible so at- home participation is a must.

Collaboration: Collaboration is also a key element of our therapy approach. When it comes to reaching speech-language goals, we view family as part of the team. In fact, parents/caregivers are the expert on their child and speech language pathologists are the experts on speech and language. Both parts of the team are needed to succeed. That’s why we work endlessly with parents/caregivers to help them feel empowered to meet their children where they are at and to help them through as much as they can.

  • Depending on the type of therapy package you elect, we are able to meet you and/or your child at home, their daycare, or in the community if you are located in New Tampa, Wesley Chapel, Zephyrhills, Lutz, or Temple Terrace, Florida. Don’t live in those areas? No worries – we’ve got you covered with teletherapy.

Parent Education/Training & Consultation services are virtual and can offered anywhere in the US.

Playgroups are at community parks and/or indoor play gyms. Check out our playgroup page for upcoming classes.

  • We provide online speech-language evaluations, therapy, and parent coaching/training for residents all throughout the state of Florida. Teletherapy combines expertise with convenience and has been proven to be just as effective as traditional speech therapy. With teletherapy, clients are able to improve communication skills with a licensed and ASHA- certified speech-language pathologist without the hassle of leaving their home. Teletherapy also provides parents and caregivers a unique opportunity to become more involved in their child’s communication development so that they will develop the confidence needed to support their child’s goals outside of therapy. We are also able to provide parent coaching for young children who are not able to directly engage in therapy online. With parent coaching, parents are able to learn the skills they need in order to help their child all throughout the day.

  • We are happy to be able to provide different levels of support for you and your family. With both services, we will be working closely together to help you help your child reach their full potential.

The biggest difference between the two is whether your child is present during the session or not. During coaching your child is present and you are able to receive direct feedback from the SLP during an interaction between between you and your child. There is also some degree of training as well in parent coaching as you will be taught how to use strategies to help your child. Parent training/education without your child is strictly for educational purposes and helps you recognize where and when you can boost your child’s language skills throughout your day.

Due to medical licensing rules, Speechology, LLC is only able to offer parent coaching with your child for Florida residents at this time. We are looking to expand into other states in the near future. Parent training/education & consulting can be done anywhere in the US.

  • We take private-pay, HSA/FSA funds, and the Step Up For Students UA Scholarship. In order to provide a more individualized and efficient service, Speechology, LLC would be considered an out- of-network provider and does not directly bill insurance. However, a super bill can be provided for you to request reimbursement from your insurance. Depending on your insurance coverage, you could receive as much as 80% reimbursement to help cover the cost of private-pay therapy. Please contact your insurance company directly to see if they cover out-of-network assessment and/or treatment for speech language therapy and teletherapy.

  • Because we are private pay, we require payment for therapy services to be rendered. As a courtesy, we are able to provide you with the necessary documents (superbills) needed in order for you to get reimbursed by your insurance.

All insurance plans are different, but first we suggest you obtain a referral and authorization from your “in-network” primary health care provider to Speechology, LLC. Insurances generally look more favorably if the referring provider is in the network.

Make sure you understand your out-of-network benefits. Call your insurance and ask the following questions:

-What are my benefits for out-of-network vs. in-network speech/language therapy? What is my out-of-network vs. in-network deductible?

-How much of my deductible has already been met for the year?

-How many visits are allowed per calendar year for these services?

-What percentage of the fee per session is covered based on usual and customary charges for in-network and out-of-network?

    -Is prior authorization required?
